Proof That I Did Stuff This Weekend

We did not have the traditional Memorial Day at my house this weekend. No grilling (need more gas for the grill), no picnics, no get-togethers. We did, however, watch some videos and work in the yard.

I planted this pot of annuals, plus another one just like it:
I split up some Black-eyed Susan clumps and moved this guy (Painted Fern):
Then I weeded, dug up the 4 clumps of dead Purple Fountain Grass from last year and planted a few annuals. I would have labeled the annuals, but I don't remember what they are called:

I did do a bit of knitting while we watched movies. The Bee Fields shawl still looks like a lacy blob:
And I finished an RPM sock:
I decided to get all wild and crazy and do a different toe this time, so instead of the usual decrease/grafting, I did a short-row toe and used a 3-needle bind off, which I liked very much.
I'll start the mate of this sock later today. Greg is off to the LIGHTFAIR trade show in Las Vegas today and won't be home until Friday, so I should have plenty of knitting time.

How was your weekend?

Green

Here's a little green for your Tuesday. We've been enjoying all the things we planted. Thought I'd share a little progress pic now that it's had a little time to grow.
Even though our holiday weekend was very quiet, I did manage to start something new with some Socks That Rock (Beryl) that's been in my stash, waiting for just the right time.

Borgs, Bags & Baskets

Not a lot to report here so far this week. I've been busy working around the house for a change and haven't done much knitting yet. But hey, it's only Wednesday.

I do have a new sock and its mate-in-progress...no name yet. However, the yarn is the Craftborg colorway that was dyed especially for us:
I decided to try out Rosemary's Wendelin pattern and I'm very pleased with it. Mindless knitting, but yet not totally stockinette.

Thought I would treat myself to a new handbag while I was at Target this week:
The weather has been beautiful here in Nashville and all of the plants and flowers are doing really well. Unfortunately, during the time that I was away recently, one of my hanging baskets got very dry and was mostly dead, so I replaced it with this:
Since then, however, the mostly dead variation of geranium has had second thoughts and is trying to resurrect itself:
So I keep watering it. It's gotten new leaves even in the past 24 hours. Go figure.

Yard Work

A few snapshots of the Yard Work...this week I also put in 48 petunias, so imagine those filling in the blank spaces.

Here's the front bed:

On the other side of this is a small shade bed that has stuff already in it - but I did add this painted fern:

I put two of these May Night Salvias in the big front bed:

Then put these at the corner of the house - don't remember what they are:

Then Greg and I put in all of this down the side of the house...there was nothing there before. Golden Euonymous, Dwarf English Lavender and Purple Fountain Grass:

Here's the Golden Euonymous up close:

Then I have two of these hanging baskets hanging off the deck:

Finally, a pretty shot of the tree in our front yard. They seem quite common in this area, but no one can tell me what it is. Anyone know?
